Understanding the Challenge

The previous Plan International website was outdated, lacking mobile optimisation and clear donation methods. It also missed the opportunity to highlight the powerful stories from staff on the ground—content that could drive donations and engagement. The redesign aimed to resolve these issues by improving functionality and user experience, making it easier for donors to contribute and stay informed about their impact.

The redesign was informed by a comprehensive UX and content audit of the existing site. I adopted a “mobile-first” and “donations-first” approach, ensuring that the pathway to support Plan International was clear and accessible at every touchpoint. The Information Architecture was reorganised to centralise and monetise staff writing, integrating donation widgets into their stories and cause pages. This strategic placement not only emphasised the urgency of donations, but also made it easy for users to support specific causes within compelling narratives.
